UCIS Gems is the new house system that we are implementing school-wide this year. The goal of the house system is to promote teamwork and motivate the students to earn points for their house by exhibiting behaviors that aline with our Character Counts expectations or that help the people and the community around them.

What are the Houses for?
UCIS Gems are the teams that ALL of the UCIS students are divided into. Houses can be awarded points for good behavior, sportsmanship, and team spirit. House points will be tallied at the end of each month, and the Gem (house) which has the most points at the end of the month will be awarded an ice cream party. Each month the points will reset to give equal opportunity for each house to win the ice cream party. However, the total points for the entire year will also be taken into account, and the house with the most points will receive a grand prize.
Special UCIS events are prime opportunities for students to earn points for their Gem. Dressing up and participating in a costume contest can earn many points for the Gems they represent. Winning games on sports day will also bring in points for their Gem. We are also looking to incorporate fun activities more often by having small activities in during the school break times on spontaneous dates throughout the year.
